Christie signing in!

I guess it's my turn! I'm so excited to spend 6 weeks adventuring with these ladies. I can't wait to post tons of pictures for your viewing pleasure, and I'm making it my goal to try a new food in every country we go to! I'm also pretty excited about tasting some European wine :) I'll be sure to tell you all about my favorites (and maybe not-so-favorites)!

I am Nicole's mom and I took them to the airport tonight, I am sure they will want to tell this story on their blog themselves - but their trip is already off to an adventurous start. they checked in at British airways and as as we were walking away from the counter Christie notice on her boarding pass while I was urging Nicole to check her baggage claim ticket that they -- and their bags -- were only checked to London. We told the agent who was by then busy with another customer - Nicole flagged down another agent who seemed to be fixing problems at the other stations -- he looked at their boarding pass, in the computer, and at their baggage tickets - and then he and some others went scurrying to find the baggage - ostensibly, erroneously checked to London instead of Madrid. the original agent came back and asserted "you didnt tell me you were going to Madrid"-- I shot back - "these are young girls traveling internationally for the first time -- they dont hat to ask"- she informed us that british airways was on strike tomorrow and maybe the flight was cancelled, - and she was going to find out. she reappeared after about 10 minutes and went back to her station, ignoring us as we continued to stand to the side waiting for the luggage - some information or both, She ignored us - so I went over to her station and asked her what was up- she said the luggage was coming back (which it did moments later) and was going to be checked to Madrid -- but that they would have to physically check in at London -- their luggage reappeared and was indeed checked through to Madrid (Nicoles almost got thrown on the conveyor checked to nowhere - but thats another story- lets just say we all screamed when they almost did that) -- no one said anything about the flight being on or off - only tht they could not check them all the way through, I just got home - and they are in the air now I think- checked the website - and their connecting flight is indeed CANCELLED. Now why they didnt just tell us that to begin with (or end with ) in the first place - I dont know... so stay tuned - who will arrive in Madrid -- first - them or their luggage - will they reunite....?? Im sure they will put it on the "blog" - what a way to start!
